Spring Cleaning is a tradition and one of those things that we just automatically migrate to as the sun shines and the temperatures grow warmer. It is a time of year that releases endorphins and a feeling of freedom, at least that is what we hope it does. Spring is a a celebration of new life, greener pastures and usually includes a thorough house cleaning with the repairs that go with it.

Here are a few tips for when you are diving into your Spring cleaning to keep the temperature inside your home just right all year long. It's no secret that changing filters in your furnace will keep your home cleaner, save about 10% on your heating bill and help your furnace last longer. But maybe you didn't realize that the type of filter you use can make even a bigger difference. Fiberglass filters has a lifetime of about one month, so if your are using fiberglass filters and have not changed them for a while your furnace is probably not running all that efficient. This Spring it may be worth the extra money to upgrade your filters to the ones that last 3 to 4 months or even a six month filter that you can clean using your vacuum cleaner. Also we can inspect your furnace and make sure you are safe from any carbon monoxide leaks.

With warmer weather on the horizon, your air conditioner will be happy if you have taken the time to clean that tiny hole in the bottom of your air conditioner to make sure it is clear of debris. Give us a call and we can take care of the servicing and cleaning the coils so you are running at the top of the charts when it comes to efficiency.

You save even more on your utility bills by repairing any cracks around your windows, testing them for ease of opening and closing, re-caulking both doors and windows and replacing worn out weather stripping. Remember, it is always a good idea to research your options, get a second opinion if you have any doubts and know you have choices when it comes to the type of furnace and the repair and maintenance that is the best fit for your lifestyle and your home.

Happy Spring Cleaning and don't forget to celebrate what you accomplish when you finish! Prevention and maintenance is the key to cost savings, higher resale value and safety.

I love the sunshine, we live in a state where we can enjoy 263 days a year of blue skies. It can be 30 degrees one day and 55 degrees the next. Sometimes I don't know if we should run the furnace or the air conditioner or maybe both and that's in February. Maybe that is one of the reasons we neglect the maintenance on our heating system, we are able to enjoy that silent warm whoosh as the furnace kicks on and keeps everything toasty warm. Then one day or night there is no warm whoosh and the chattering of your teeth remind you that you haven't had the furnace checked for a couple of years. Our job is to put out a gentle reminder that teeth chattering is not a sport you want to participate in your home. Let us be your reminder of when it's time to service your furnace and air conditioner. We can keep a schedule for you and keep your furnace in top running condition.

The house was getting cold and I realized the furnace had stopped working.I called Idaho Heating and Cooling who responded and was at the house within 30 minutes. Ben diagnosed the problem and managed to find a new blower moter right away and repair the furnace. He also took the time to conduct a routine maintenance to replace worn parts and filters. Thanks for being fast and thorough! We would recommend IHC to everyone we know!

We live in an area that can be mild tempertures or it can dump a few feet of snow. So how do you keep your home and business warm? Do you have ways to cut down on traffic coming and going, are you constantly opening doors to let kids and pets outside or do you have a constant breeze flowing through your house or business? Often we let minor repairs and maintenance slide to take care of the day to day craziness that life heaps on. Eventually the lack of prevention and preparation catches up to all of us. We get calls at 10:00 PM or sometimes in those early morning hours for furnace repairs because the house is freezing. Often the furnace has not been checked out for 4 or 5 years. Mantenance is far less expensive than buying new equipment, it's better to prevent when you can than replace because of neglect. Take advantage of our Feb/ Mar special and be proactive in keeping your home warm. For more tips follow this link: http://www.today.com/home/keep-cold-air-out-6-tips-keeping-your-house-warm-t69391.

"Thank you Ben! I appreciated your expertise and second opinion. It saved me from buying a whole new system when all we needed was maintenance and clean-up. I would recommend Idaho Heating and Cooling to everyone who wants an honest evaluation of their heating system and would like to save money. The service and results were even better than I expected."
